In the spirit of Jesus Christ, Love2540, ministers to needs in our community through gospel centered service.
The name Love2540 has its roots in two verses. The first part, Love, originates from our greatest commandment as stated in Matthew 22:37-39.
37 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself
The second verse, and part of the name, 2540, is from the following passage which includes Matthew 25:40.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Our mission is to connect biblical communities to the needs of the local community, meeting both the physical and the spiritual need.
Through our partner, Communities in Schools (CIS), we have developed a process by which CIS program managers in 44 North Texas schools can refer families in need to a faith based partner, love2540. Participants must fill out a community resource form which is then approved by a CIS supervisor before being passed to Love2540.
While there are many ways to distribute support, we believe that a gospel centered approach to serving will make the greatest impact in the lives of the community around us. Not only do we walk along side of the family in need, but we cover the relationship in prayer – clearly articulating that God sees them where they are and is using the community of believers to show them his incomprehensible love. Our desire is to see a relationship build within the supporting group and need, ultimately resulting in regenerative hearts.
Communities of believers that are participating in love2540 projects are experiencing a depth of gospel centered growth both personally and within their groups. Spiritual gifts and purpose are discovered through the richness of serving others. Love2540 enables families with young children to serve and minister to together.
